The Fund is currently investigating the possibility of producing a number of resin bronze replicas of a plaster medallion featuring a side profile of Wallace, which The Natural History Museum, London, has in its archives. This medallion was made by Albert Bruce-Joy (d. 1924) in 1914. It is very similar in design to the white marble medallion in Westminster Abbey also made by Bruce-Joy.
If the Fund is granted permission to take a mould of the medallion, then a number of replicas will be made and presented to organisations and institutions which have a connection to Wallace, in order to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the discovery of natural selection and Wallace's part in it. A number of organisations have expressed interest in having and displaying a replica medallion, e.g. Thurrock Museum, the Royal Entomological Society, the Wallacea Foundation of Indonesia.
The more money we have in the Fund, the more replicas we can make (they are not cheap). If you wish to make a contribution then please click here to contact us.
